Supervisory Skills

Do you have members of your management team in need of Supervision 101?  We can help!  Even seasoned managers sometime need a little tune-up as management practices evolve.  We have modules that cover coaching, culture, interviewing and selection, performance management, disciplinary and corrective action and just about anything else supervisors encounter.

Respectful Workplace

Bullies in the workplace?  Or do you just want to make sure your employees are treating each other and your customers with respect?  We have an interactive and informative module that covers all this and more.  We will discuss sexual harassment – what it is and what it is not – along with other unlawful workplace harassment and what it takes to ensure a work environment in which all employees can thrive.

Customer Service

Providing excellent customer service is a must for every employee, regardless of how you define the customer.  In our module, we explore establishing a customer service culture, what it means, how to develop it and how to hold everyone accountable to delivering excellence.  The course is interactive with discussions and exercises designed to reinforce concepts.

Effective Hiring

A basic competency for business owners and others is the ability to effectively interview and hire individuals.  We start with the foundations of a good job description and how to set expectations through interviewing skills, job offer, reference checking and on-boarding.  You will be shown effective tools, including a pre-employment assessment that helps narrow the field and improve your odds at hiring the best candidate not only for experience but for “fit” to the organization.  You will learn what you should and should not do or say during the interview and hiring process so all will be smooth and legal.


Good teams are MADE not born!  In this workshop we will walk you through the steps to creating a good team and diagnosing and fixing one that does not work well together.  This session will identify differences in generations, communication and thinking behavioral styles to help the participants recognize the communication clues so they can adapt their own communication style to the listener.  In addition, accountability and conflict resolution will be discussed along with pertinent skill practices to encourage interaction and participation.

Change Management

Change is a constant, but can be painful if employees or managers are resistant to it.  This session explores how our openness or resistance to change affects our ability to remain productive and the common emotional responses that individuals, teams and even management, experience when change occurs.  Every organization can benefit from this discussion and learning.  Change is occurring more frequently and faster with growth, social change, downsizing and mergers/acquisitions.  Be ready!

Communication, or rather, “poor communication” is the single most common issue in the workplace and in personal relationships of all types.

Calyx-Weaver & Associates wants to help you and your employees with communication in the workplace.  Whether it is problem solving for a single “difficult” individual or working with a team, Calyx-Weaver has a communication workshop that will provide insight, tools and resources to help you communicate better and work together more effectively.

We start with the foundations of effective communication and through exercises and various tools, such as DISC, provide a window into why we say what we say in the way we say it.  We not only provide self-insight, we guide groups to learn about one another and how each member’s experiences, upbringing and other differences impact how they hear and communicate to others. 

We explore the factors in building effective teams through better communication; we cover the importance of listening as well as speaking.  We also discuss effective written communications and business writing as appropriate to the group.  And, because so often conflict occurs due to miscommunication, we cover how to address conflict in the workplace along with conflict management.  Many of the techniques we discuss will work at home as well as at work.

The length of time of this training ranges from 2 hours to day-long.  We customize the training to meet the needs of YOUR group.
